About CV

Welcome to Castle View High School located in the Meadows Community of Castle Rock, Colorado.

Castle View High School opened in 2006 serving only freshman and sophomores. During the 2007-2008 school year, juniors joined the student body and now the school functions at full capacity. While operating below its grade capacity during the 2007-2008 school year, a portion of the school building was used as overflow classroom space for around 300 students from Castle Rock Middle School. It has since stopped serving this purpose in the 2008-2009 school year with the new Mesa Middle School constructed over the summer of 2008.

Dr. Lisle Gates, the first principal at Castle View, developed a school that is unique and cutting edge in its philosophy. CVHS is the first high school in Colorado to offer unique and specialized groupings of classes, referred to as Academies. At the present there are five: Math, Science and Engineering (MSE), Biotech & Health Sciences (BHS), Leadership & Global Communication (LGC), Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) and MOSAIC. In the 2011-2012 school year, the E-Media & Business Academy was absorbed into the four other academies allowing each academy to have a business and technology curriculum relative to the career pathways specific to those academies.

The first graduating class from Castle View High School graduated at the Red Rocks Amphitheater on May 22, 2009. Graduation continues to be held at Red Rocks.

In the 2005-2006 school year, Castle View's football team played in the 3A Central Metro League. As of the 2008-2009 school year, most sports competed in the 4A Continental League. Football competed in the 4A Foothills Conference. Presently Castle View sports has moved up to 5A in all sports.
